Introduction
The use of digital technology grown rapidly during the last decades. No previous generation has been exposed during childhood. In this era the use of Smartphone is gradually becoming a compelling learning tool used to enhance teaching and learning.Eventhough teachers are not satisfied with online mood of learning the corona pandamic forced both category to depend on this mode of learning.
Several studies have compared students who texted during an online class Vs those who did not. Those who texted frequently took lower quality notes, retained less information, and about the did worse on tests about the material. Even students themselves realize that usage cell phone does not promote learning.
Need and significance of the study
In recent years students and children were not aware of online classes, google meet platforms etc as this mode Prominently came during lockdown, they all came across usage of online platforms for teaching and learning. As the demand for online classes increase it is very essential to study about the implementation of this class on children. Comparing to offline classes, online classes will not be very effective due to many factors like lack of the topic, lack of Stable environment, personal and emotional factors, distract on over usage of due mobile phones.This study would help to point whether the children are using smart phones mainly for the purpose of studying or to do works which part of their curriculum.
Objective
The objective of this study is to find out whether the children are using mobile phones for the purpose of studying by identifying the factors that can distract the students from studying & learning.
Method of the study
The method adopted for this study was a survey of 15 online students that includes children below 15 years.
Tools used for the study
It was decided to use a survey method to identify and to find out the impact of using mobile phones among children below 15 years. Inorder to achieve the objective, the survey questionnaire was conducted on a sample of 15 respondents. I have examined a varied range of factors and tried to find out their impact on children below 15 years by means of a self-designed questionnaire.
Mayor Findings of the study
# Most children below 15 years use watsup and it application and it is the most loved application among them.
#80% of the children below is years use watsup during online class.
#91.7% like to use watsup during online class
#53.3% have the tendency to chat in watsup during online class.
#57.7% are not afraid to use other applications during online class
Conclusion
In the study conducted to find out the impact of mobile phone among children below 15 years with the objective to analyse whether they are using mobile for the purpose of learning or entertainment it is found that they like to use other applications during their online class and are to more to entertainment than learning
Mobile phones distract them during their online class and they are more into entertainment than learning. In the survey it was noted only 67% of the children are not using any applications during their online class whereas others are into different applications.
Mobile phones are a negative impact to children and can results in their low academic performance hence parents should monitor the children who are using mobile phones frequently to improve their academic quality.
